Mr. Kemp submitted the following amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Add after section 4, to be section 5 :

And be it enacted, That before the said causeway shall be
cut or opened, that there shall be built a bridge, in the most
substantial manner, which bridge shall be secured at each
end by good and efficient abuttments or piers, the said bridge
to be not less than twelve feet wide, with a snbstanial railing
on each side, and with a draw at least sixty feet wide in said
bridge, at the deepest part of said Narrows, after the same
shall have been deepened and the obstructions removed there-
from, so as to make the passage tbrough the entire route safe;
provided said bridge is completed by January 1st, next.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Thompson submitted the following amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

SECTION 6. And be it enacted, That if a substantial bridge,
according to the provisions of the fifth section, cannot be built
for four thousand dollars, the additional money necessary
therefor shall be levied equally upon Queen Anne's and Tal-
bot counties.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Seth submitted the following amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Make present section 5, read section 7.
Which was adopted.

The bill, as amended, was then read a second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Freaner moved that the vote by which the bill known
as the "Oyster Bill" was on yesterday passed to a third read-
ing, be reconsidered.

The question recurring upon concurring in the motion,
