Ordered, That Mr. Keech, of Baltimore county, have leave
of absence on Monday next, on account of an important busi-
ness engagement.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Waters submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Van-
derford is absent on important business.

Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Keech, (the rules being suspended,)

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
repeal section 1, aad section 4, of Article 13, of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Bastardy and Fornication," and
re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion of Mr. Greenfield,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Internal Improve-
ments to introduce a bill to incorporate the Maryland Canal
Company.

On motion of Mr. Bond,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Bond, Colton and Hawkins
to introduce a bill authorizing the Governor to appoint one
additional Justice of the Peace for the second election district

of St. Mary's county.

Mr. Seth, Chairman of a Select Committee, (the rules be-
ing suspended,) reported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to add a section to Article 20 of the
Public Local Laws for Talbot county.

Which was read a first time.

On motion of Mr. Watkins, (the rules being suspended,)

The House proceeded to the consideration of the unfavor-
able report of the Committee of Ways and Means on the bill
entitled an Act for the relief of Biscoe Adams, one of the sure-
ties on the official bond of Robert J. Bean, former Collector

of State and county taxes for St. Mary's county.

When,

On motion of Mr. Watkins,

The vote by which the unfavorable report was adopted,
was reconsidered.

The question then recurring upon concurring in the unfa-
vorable report of the Committee,
