Being upon a second reading.
On motion of Mr. McColgan,

The further consideration thereof was postponed, and said
bill recommitted to the Committee on Inspections.

The bill entitled an Act to appoint a Commissioner of Im-
migration to promote the interest of Labor and Agriculture
in the State of Maryland, by inducing immigrants arriving
at the Port of Baltimore to remain in the State, and to re-
ceive and provide suitable accommodations for such immi-
grants, and to assist them in procurring suitable homes and
employment,

Being upon a second reading.

Mr. Vanderford submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Section 2, line 3, strike out the word "five," before the
word "thousand," and insert the word one; and in line 12,
same section, strike out the word "five," before the word
"thousand," and insert the word one.

Which was read.

The question recurring upon the adoption of the amend-
ment,

Mr. Watkins, moved that the further consideration thereof
be postponed, and said bill recommitted to the Committee on
Immigration.

The question recurring upon sustaining the motion,
Mr. McWilliams demanded the yeas and nays.

The demand being sustained, the yeas and nays were
