MONDAY, March 2d, 1874.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Hedges.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members:

Messrs. Hines, (Speaker,) Bond, Colton, Merritt, Henkle,
Robinson, Nutwell, Bird, Lancaster, Hawkins, Buchanan,
Matthews, Merryman, Turner, of Balt, co., Seth, Coiubourn,
Duer, Gordy, Hodson, Turner, of Cecil, Etchison, Latch-
ford, Eobey, Thompson, Kemp, Pruitt, Lamar, Nicodemus,
Annan, Grafton, Lee, Riley, Dawson, Williams, McCosker,
T. H. Hamilton, Cooper, C. R. Hamilton, McWilliams,
Foster, Staylor, Stewart, of Baltimore city, McAleese, Gill,
Hart, Loane, McColgan, Harig, Joyce, Groh, Fenton, Clark,
Watkins, Fletchall, Wier, Wack, Park, Brace, Waters,
Vanderford, Galt, Maclin, Stewart, of Howard, Bedsworth,
Glotfelty—64.

The Speaker laid before the House the Report of Edward
H. Ireland, Clerk to the County Commissioners of Calvert
county, with account presented for 1872 and 1873, by James
A. Wilson, State's Attorney for said county, in response to
an order of the House.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on the Judiciary.

Mr. Dawson presented the petition of G. W. Buck and
fifteen other citizens of Caroline county, praying the passage
of a Local Option and Damage Law.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
Temperance.

Also,

The petition of William Morriss and forty-four other
colored citizens of Caroline county, praying the passage of a
law to punish bastardy among colored people.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Also,

The petition of Saml. J. Jarmon and twelve other citizens
of Caroline county, praying the passage of a Stock Law.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.
