512 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 26,

The bill entitled an Act to refund to Thomas Brashears,
one of the tax-payers of Prince George's county, for the years
commencing 1867 and ending 1873, a sum of money errone-
ously paid into the State Treasury,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to "appropriate a sum of money to
pay the claims of Jno. Murphy & Co., Harry Gilmor, Henry
W. Jenkins & Son, Jno. Turnbull, Jr., & Co., and Benton
Tolson,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to pay to Luther A. Martin, late
Sheriff of Charles county, the sum of eighty-two dollars and
thirty cents, erroneously paid into the Treasury,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
pay the claims of John T. E. Hyde, Wm. Murdoch, John
Himelhaver, J. W. Kalmey, Samuel Stewart and Taylor &
Barnard,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

Charles J. Pennington, Esqr., Assistant Secretary of State,
delivered the following message from his Excellency the
Governor:

EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,
Annapolis, February 26th, 1874.
To the House of Delegates :

I beg to call your attention to the enclosed communication,
transmitted to me by a Committee of the Accademy of Sciences,
in this State, whose investigation of the subject of which this
Report treats, was made at my suggestion.

Referring to my message at the beginning of the seession,
on the same subject, I deem it highly important that speedy
action be taken in the premises.

WM. PINKNEY WHYTE.

Together with accompanying paper, respecting the Fish
and Fisheries of the State.

Which were severally read and referred to the Select Com-
mittee on that subject.
