Which was read and referred to the Committe on Ways
and Means.

Mr. McWilliams presented the petition of John Smith,
Robert Patterson, and seventy-five other citizens of the 4th
election district of Caroline county, praying the passage of a
Local Option and Damage Law.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
Temperance.

Mr. McColgan presented the petition of Andrew J.
Lowndes, Wm. E. Coale, and other citizens of Baltimore
county, in favor of the extension of the limits of Baltimore
city.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
the Extension of the Limits of Baltimore City.

Mr. Riley presented the petition of James H. Michael and
other citizens of Harford county, asking for a general law
offering a reward for hawks killed in this State.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.

Mr. Stake presented the petition of sundry merchants and
other citizens of Washington county, praying the passage of
a law to protect the merchants of the several counties by the
enactment of laws to compel hawkers and pedlars to take out
license in each county wherein they operate.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Merryman presented the petition of J. Harmanns
Fisher, John T, Graham and other citizens residing at Mount
Washington, in favor of absorbing the whole of Baltimore
county by the city, in lieu of a part thereof.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
the Extension of the Limits of Baltimore City.

Mr. McAleese presented the petition of C. F. Miller, for
the payment of claim against the State, for removing State
property from the several armories and head-quarters to the
steamboat wharves, and payment of freight thereon.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.
Mr. Pruitt submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Hon. A. D. Merrill was detained from
