On motion of Mr. Maclin,

The further consideration thereof was postponed, and said
hill recommitted to the Select Committee reporting the same.

The Speaker appointed Mr. Thompson on the Committee
on Elections, in place of Mr. Groome,

On motion of Mr. Henkle,
At 3 o'clock, P. M., the House adjourned.

WEDNESDAY, February 25th, 1874.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Hedges.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members :

Messrs. Hines, (Speaker,) Bond, Colton, Merritt, Henkle,
Robinson, Nutwell, Bird, Lancaster, Hawking, Keech, Buch-
anan, Matthews, Merryman, Turner, of Bait, co., Seth, Sud-
ler, Coulbourn, Duer, Gordy, Hodson, Turner, of Cecil,
Mackey, Etchison, Latchford, Robey, Thompson, Kemp,
Pruitt, Merrill, Koons, Miller, Lamar, Nicodemus, Annan,
Lee, Riley, Dawson, Williams, McCosker, T. H. Hamilton,
C. R. Hamilton, McWilliams, Foster, Staylor, Stewart, of
Balt, city, McAleese, Gill, Hart, Loane,Greenfield, McColgan,
Harig, Joyce, Groh, Fenton, Berry, Freaner, Grimes, Stake,
Clark, Watkins, Fletchall, Wier, Wack, Park, Brace,
Waters, Vanderford, Galt, Brown, Maclin, Stewart, of How-
ard, Leonard, Bedsworth, Glotfelty—75.

The Speaker laid before the House the official returns of
the special election held in Cecil county on the 18th instant,
to elect a member to the House of Delegates to fill the va-
cancy occasioned by the resignation of the Hon. James B.
Groome.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Elec-
tions.

The Hon. James A. Davis, member elect from Cecil coun-
ty, appeared, qualified and took his seat.

Mr. Stewart, of Howard, presented the petition of one
hundred and forty-four citizens of the sixth election dis-
trict of Howard county, in favor of Local Option.
