The Secretary of the Senate returned the following bill,

The bill entitled an Act to alter and amend the charter of
the Hampshire and Baltimore Coal Company, incorporated
by an Act entitled an Act to recognize the Hampshire and
Baltimore Coal Company, a corporation created by, and ex-
isting under the laws of the State of West Virginia, as a
corporation in the State of Maryland, and to authorize it
to exercise the powers and privileges of a corporation within
the State of Maryland, for mining and other purposes, passed
at January session, 1864, chapter 295, by repealing the
second section thereof, and amending the same and re-enact-
ing it as amended.

Charles J. Pennington, Esq., Assistant Secretary of State,
delivered the following message from his Excellency the
Governor:

I have the honor to return herewith, with my assent and
approval, the following House Bills:

No. 16. A bill entitled an Act supplementary to an Act
passed by the General Assembly of Maryland, at the Jan-
uary session, eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, chapter four
hundred and fifty-five, to confer certain powers upon a cor-
poration therein named, to render effectual said powers, by
the correction of an error which occurred in said Act; and
also to extend the time for the payment of the capital stock
of said Company of the title as corrected by the Act.

No. 23. A bill entitled an Act to repeal section one hun-
dred and ninety-nine, Article one, of the Code of Public
Local Laws, entitled " Allegany County/' sub-title "Birds."
