authorize the building of a bridge over the River Patapsco,
passed at January session, 1856, chapter 215.

Pending which,

On motion of Mr. Henkle,

The further consideration thereof was postponed, and said
bill recommitted to the Select Committee reporting the same.

On motion of Mr. Freaner, (the rules being suspended,)

The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill en-
titled an Act to provide for the defence of Officers of Regis-
tration and Judges of Elections, who are, or may be indicted
in the United States Court for acts done in the performance
of duties imposed by the Constitution and Laws of this State,
which acts are alleged to be in violation of the Act of Con-
gress approved May 31st, 1870, entitled " An Act to enforce
the rights of citizens of the United States to vote in the
several States of this Union, and for other purposes."

Said bill being upon a third reading,

Said bill was then read a third time and passed by yeas
and nays, as follows :
