Mr. Freaner, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary,
reported unfavorably upon the memorial of the Yearly Meet-
ing of the Society of Friends.

The unfavorable report was adopted.

Also, unfavorably, upon

The petition of B. Rush Roberts, Richard T. Bentley, A.
Gilpin and others, of Montgomery county, praying the Gen-
eral Assembly to change the death penalty for crime to
imprisonment for life.

The unfavorable report was adopted.
Also,

Reported back the memorial of Catherine Slater, author-
izing the Appeal Tax Court of Baltimore City to re-assess
her property, with the recommendation that said memorial
be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

The memorial was so referred.

Mr. Freaner, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary,
reported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to repeal section 827, chapter 273,
of the Acts of Assembly passed January session, 1870, en-
titled an Act to add an additional section to Article 4, of the
Code of Public Local Laws, title " City of Baltimore," sub-
title "Police," and to amend and re-enact the same as
amended.

Which was read a first time.

Also,

A bill entitled an Act to repeal section 20, of Article 28,
of the Code of Public General Laws, title " County, Com-
missioners," sub-title "Roads," and to re-enact the same
with amendments.

Which was read a first time.

Also, reported back,

A bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower the Mayor,
Aldermen and Common Council of Frederick, to subscribe to
the capital stock of the Frederick and Pennsylvania Line
Rail Road Company, and to endorse the bonds of the said
Company.

Which was considered.

Also, favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to repeal chapter 347 of the Acts
passed at January session, 1872, entitled an Act to repeal
