On motion of Mr. Latchford,
Leave was granted to the Prince George's delegation to
introduce a bill to repeal section 5 of an Act passed 1872,
title "Crows," in relation to the killing of hawks and owls,
in Prince George's county.
On motion of Mr, Brown,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Inspections to in-
troduce a bill for the appointment of one General Inspector,
and four Assistant Flour Inspectors, by the Governor, and
defining their duties.
On motion of Mr. Stake,
WHEREAS, The General Assembly did, at the January ses-
sion of 1870, pass an Act, chapter 80, entitled an Act to
amend the Act incorpsrating the Baltimore and Potomac
Rail Road Company, and extend the powers of said corpora-
tion; and,
Whereas, The 7th section of the Act of 1870 has been so
construed by the Baltimore and Potomac Rail Road Company
as to permit them to charge such exorbitant rates for passen-
gers and freight passing through the tunnel, as to prevent
the use of said tunnel by the Western Maryland Rail Road,
a road constructed by the City of Baltimore and the counties
of Washington and Carroll; therefore,
Ordered, That the Committee on Corporations have leave
to introduce a bill to amend the charter of the Baltimore and
Potomac Rail Road, and so restrict the charges on passengers
and freight passing from the Western Maryland Rail Road,
at the same rates per mile as is charged for passengers and
through freight on said Baltimore and Potomac Rail Road.
On motion of Mr. McColgan,
Leave was granted to Messrs. McColgan, T. H. Hamilton
and McAleese, to introduce a bill to repeal section 489, of
Article 4, of the Code of Local Laws, entitled " Baltimore
City," sub-title "Manures," and re-enact the same with
amendments.
Mr. Stewart, of Howard, submitted the following order :
Ordered, That a Committee of five be appointed by the
Speaker to inquire into the expediency of having a re-assess-
ment of the property of this State, and report by bill or
otherwise.
Which was adopted, and Messrs, Stewart, of Howard, Robin-
son, Greenfield, Berry and Brace constituted said Committee.
