a list of the Clerks regularly employed by him in the year
1873, with their names, and the amount of compensation
actually paid them; also, a statement showing the amount of
printing done by his order during said year, by whom done,
and the actual amount paid therefor; also, a statement of the
temporary clerical assistance employed by him during said
year, with the names of parties employed as temporary Clerics,
and the amount actually paid for their services; also, the
amount actually expended by him as travelling expenses
during said year, in performance of the duties imposed on
him by law," which was by a vote of the House laid on the
table.

And whereas, The Comptroller is anxious and has re-
quested that a full investigation shall be made as to every
item of the expenditure in regard to said office; therefore,

Ordered, That the Committee on Ways and Means be, and
they are hereby, instructed to inquire into all the expenditures
of the Comptroller's Office, in regard to Clerks and all other
expenses, and that they especially inquire into the expendi-
tures on account of the contingent fund, and every item
thereof, and that they report to this House within ten days
from this date.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Lamar submitted the following order:

Ordered, That Mr. Williams, of Caroline, be granted leare
of absence until Tuesday, the 23rd, on account of urgent bus-
iness.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Bird submitted the following order:

Ordered, That Mr. John Turner be excused from attend-
ance on this House, until Wednesday, February 24th.

Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Lee,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to repeal chapter two hundred and thirty-
three, of the Acts of 1868, amending the charter of the Phil-
adelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore Rail Road Company.

On motion of Mr. Eobinson,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to carry into effect an Act passed January
session, 1872, chapter 207.

On motion of Mr. Vanderford,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Elections to intro-
duce a bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 9 and 10 of
