The Speaker laid before the House the petition of Hamilton
Easter & Sons, and forty other merchants of Baltimore City,
praying the passage of a law requiring sellers of goods by
sample to take out a license, and to require all traders who
sell by price-list to take out additional license.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Weir presented the petition of W. Collins and forty-
four others, protesting against the Local Option Law.

Which was read and referred, to the Select Committee on
Temperance.

Mr. Annan presented the petition of Hamilton Easter &
Sons, and one hundred and ten other merchants of Balti-
more City, praying the passage of a law taxing traders who
sell by sample.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Waters presented the petition of Mary Wood, Marga-
ret Wolfe and eigty-one other ladies of Union Bridge Dis-
trict, Carroll county, in favor of Local Option, &c.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
Temperance.

Mr. Bond presented the petition of James L. Briscoe and
others, in favor of Local Option.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
Temperance.

Mr. Henkle presented the petition of Miss S. E, Littleton
and ninety-six other ladies of Anne Arundel county, in favor
of a Local Option Law.

Also,

The petition of Rev. C. H. Littleton and severity-six oth-
ers in favor of Local Option.

Also,

The memorial of Rev. Mr. G. Holmes and eighty-five other
citizens of Anne Arundel county, in favor of a Local Option
Law.

Which were severally read and referred to the Select Com-
mittee on Temperance.

Mr. Keech presented the petition of Levi Hunt, for the
passage of a law for the protection of milk producers.

Which was read and referred to the Committee oa Agri-
culture.
