356 . JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 13,

Mr. Waters submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Van-
derford is unavoidably absent on account of important busi-
ness.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Latchford submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Ro-
bey is absent to-day on account of having important business
to attend to.

Which, was adopted.

Mr. Brace submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Printer to this House be required to
have the Journal for each day ready to be placed on the files
before the opening of next day's session.

Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Lee,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to authorize the Orphans' Court for Harford
county to appoint a bailiff, and to fix his compensation.

On motion of Mr. Staylor,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal section 827, chap-
ter 473, of the Acts of Assembly passed January session,
1870, entitled an Act to add an additional section to Article
4 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title "City of Baltimore,"
sub-title "Police," and be section 827 of said Article, and
to amend and re-enact the same as amended.

On motion of Mr. Wier,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Education to intro-
duce a bill to appoint a Commission to examine into and re-
port upon the condition of the affairs of the Public School
Board for Allegany county.

On motion of Mr. Lee,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to add an additional section
to Article 30 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled
"Crimes and Punishments."

On motion of Mr. Setb,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Pensions to in-
troduce a bill to pay Sarah L. Ridgaway, widow of Henry
Ridgaway, late of Talbot county, soldier of the war of 1812,
