Wherefore your memorialists pray that an Act may be
passed, allowing them to make the same charge for the trans-
portation of passengers as other roads in the city of Balti-
more, or for such modification of the twenty per cent, tax on
the gross receipts of the Company as may seem just and prop-
er to your memorialists, and likewise to the corporation of
Baltimore, in view of all the facts and circumstances sur-
rounding the case.

Mr. Lloyd presented the memorial of John Miller and
others, of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, calling the atten-
tion of the General Assembly to the water course known as
"Kent Island Narrows."
On motion by Mr. Stevens,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance, to report
a bill to appropriate a sum of money to the Maryland Insti-
tution, for the instruction of the blind; to establish an Indus-
trial Department for the adult blind of the city and State.
Also,
To the Committee on Corporations to report a bill entitled
"An Act to amend the sixth section of the Act of eighteen
hundred and fifty-eight, chapter four hundred and ten, enti-
tled''An Act to incorporate the Mineral Hill Mining Com-
pany of Maryland," &c.
On motion by Mr. Suit,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Suit, Steiner and Brattan, to
report a bill to amend the charter of the Washington City
and Point Lookout Rail Road.
On motion by Mr. McCulloh,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations, to
introduce a bill entitled "An Act to extend an Act, entitled
an Act to incorporate the New York Mining Company, passed
at December Session, eighteen hundred and forty-four, chap-
ter two hundred and twenty, and the supplement thereto,
passed at December Session, eighteen hundred and forty-six,
chapter one hundred and twenty-three, and the Act to alter
and amend the said original Act of incorporation, and sup-
plement thereto, passed at January Session, eighteen hundred
