Mr. Staylor presented the petition of the widow of Elcey
S. Gill for renewal of pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Buchanan presented the memorial of John M. Orem
and Francis M. Crook, of the Baltimore Manual Labor
School, asking an appropriation of $10,000, and that a Com-
mittee be appointed to visit the Institution.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage :

BY THE SENATE,

February 10th, 1874.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
that the Joint Committee to visit the Maryland Asylum at

Spring Grove, in Baltimore county, shall also extend their
visit to the Maryland Industrial School for Girls.
By order,

AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY,

Secretary.
Which was read.

Mr. Fenton submitted the following message :

Bv THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

February 11th, 1874.
gentlemen of the Senate:

We have received your message proposing that the Joint
Committee to visit the Spring Grove Asylum, extend their
visit to the Maryland Industrial School for Girls, and re-
spectfully concur therein.

Which was reaj, assented to, and sent to the Senate.
Mr. Staylor submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Green-
field will be absent from his seat in this House the remainder
of the week, owing to a death in his family.

Mr. Keech submitted the following order:

Ordered by the House of Delegates, That the Librarian
furnish the Reporter of the "Maryland Journal" with the same
