The petition of one hundred and one male citizens of
Dame's Quarter District, for Local Option and Damage Law
in Somerset county.

Also,

The petition of ninety-six ladies of Dame's Quarter Dis-
trict, for Local Option and Damage Law in Somerset county.

Also,

The petition of sixty-four ladies of Tangier District, for a
Local Option and Damage Law in Somerset county.

Which were severally read and referred to the Select Com-
mittee on Temperance.

Mr. Matthews presented the petition of Dr. Jno. Thorne, of
Baltimore, asking to be paid certain monies due by the State

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Williams submitted the following order:
Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that when the
vote was taken for Governor, Mr. Williams, of Caroline
county, was absent from the House on account of sickness,
and that if he had been present, he would have voted for
Hon. John E. Smith.

Which was adopted,

Mr. Stake submitted the following order:

Ordered, That leave be granted Mr. Stake to withdraw
from the files of the House the papers relating to the appli-
cation of Jacob Socey, of Washington county, for compensa-
tion.

Mr. Fenton submitted the following order:
Ordered, That Mr. Joyce, of Baltimore City, be excused
from attendance on account of death in his family.

Mr. Lancaster submitted the following order:

this House.
