TUESDAY, February 3d, 1874.

The House met and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Harper.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members:

Messrs. Hines, (Speaker,) Bond, Colton, Merritt, Robin-
son, Nutwell, Bird, Turner, of Calvert, Bawkins, Keech,
Bachanan, Matthews, Merryman, Turner, of Balt, co., Val-
liant, Coulbourn, Duer, Gordy, Johnson, Hodson, Groome,
Turner, of Cecil, Mackey, Etchison, Latchford, Eobey,
Thompson, Kemp, Pruitt, Merrill, Miller, Lamar, Nicode-
mus, Grafton, Lee, Riley, Williams, McCosker, T. H. Ham-
ilton, Cooper, C. R. Hamilton, McWilliams, Foster, Staylor,
Stewart, of Balt, city, McAleese, Gill, Hart, Loane, Green-
field, McColgan, Harig, Joyce, Groh, Fenton, Berry, Frea-
ner, Grimes, Stake, Clark, Watkins, Fletchall, Wier, Wack,
Park, Brace, Waters, Vanderford, Gait, Brown, Maclin,
Stewart, of Howard, Leonard-, Bedsworth—74.

Mr. Bud presented the petition of Matthew Patton and
Robt. Brooke and forty-six others of Caroline county, in fa-
vor of a Local Option Law for said county.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
Temperance.

Mr. Merritt presented the petition of fifty citizens of Kent
county, praying for the passage of a law taxing dogs in said
county.

Which was read and referred to the Kent delegation.

Mr. Merritt also presented the petition of one hundred and
thirty-four citizens of Kent county, for the passage of a law
to prohibit barber-shops from being opened on Sunday.

Which was read and referred to the Kent delegation.

Mr. Clark presented the petition of Margaret Baker, Mary
A. Harrington and Margaret Townsend, asking to be placed
on the pension rolls.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Miller presented the petition of Rev. L. A. Mann,
Rev. W. L. Sherwood, Jas. S. Crawford and one hunderd
and seventeen other citizens of Petersville District, Frederick
county, praying the passage of a law submitting to the voters
of the several counties and wards of the City of Baltimore,
whether or not intoxicating liquors shall be sold in said
counties or wards.
