BY THE SENATE,

Gentlemen, of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message in relation to the notifica-
tion of the Hon. Barnes Compton of his election as Treasurer,
and respectfully concur therein.

Mr. Johnson submitted the following message:

By THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

February 2d, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We propose, with your concurrence, the appointment of a
Select Committee of three on the part of the House, and two
on the part of the Senate, to communicate with the Governor
of Virginia on the subject of the Potomac Fisheries, relative
to the fact that neither the Act of 1860, Article 41, nor the
Act of 1870, chapter 205, relating to the Potomac Shad and
Herring Fisheries, are of any force or effect, by reason of the
non-concurrence of the authorities of Virginia, and the said
Committee to report the result to this Legislature at the ear-
liest practicable day; and we name on the part of this House
Messrs. Johnson, Stewart, of Baltimore city, and Bond.

By order,

MILTON Y. KIDD,

Chief Clerk.

Which was read, assented to and sent to the Senate.

On motion of Mr. Stake,
At 2 1/2 o'clock, P. M., the House adjourned.
