Ordered, That the Sergeant at-Arms of this House for the
year 1872 be allowed, in addition to the pay already received
by him, such further sum as will make his compensation
equal to that received by the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate
for the same year.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Buchanan submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Fow-
ler is detained from his seat by sickness.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Park submitted the following order:

Ordered, That C. B. Wack and Wm. Brace, Jr., be ex-
cused for absence on Saturday last.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Miller submitted the following order:

Ordered, That Mr, Annan be granted leave of absence on
to-morrow to attend to business engagements.

Mr. Stake submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Messrs. Freaner, Berry and Grimes be ex-
cused for absence on Saturday, January 31st, and Monday,
February 2nd, they being detained from the House' from
urgent necessity.

Mr. Lancaster submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Haw-
kins has been detained from his seat by sickness.

Mr. Lamar submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Mr. Koons, of Frederick county, have leave
of absence on account of the illness of his wife.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Dawson submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the use of this Hall be granted to the State
Temperance Alliance, on Monday evening, at half-past seven
o'clock, next, to enable them to present their views on the
subject of Temperance to the House Committees on Temper-
ance, Judiciary, Ways and Means, and Financial Commit-
