Mr. Keech submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal of this House,
that Mr. Fowler, of Baltimore county, is prevented from
taking his seat to-day by sickness.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Coulbourn,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Education to re-
port a bill to aid Marion Academy and Jacksonville Academy,
in Somerset county.

On motion of Mr. Latchford,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to have all barber shops in the State closed
on the Sabbath.

On motion of Mr. Cooper,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to add an additional section to Article 93 of the
Code of Public General Laws, so as to provide for an inter-
preter who speaks the German language, for the Orphans'
Court for Baltimore City.

On motion of Mr. Bird,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal section 1, Article
35 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Elections,"
and re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion of Mr. Robinson,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Claims to report a
bill to authorize the payment of a sum of money to John B.
Nichols, as provided by Act of Assembly of 1866, chapter
108, section 3.

On motion of Mr. Johnson,

Leave was granted to the Select Committee on Pilots to in-
troduce a bill to amend and re-enact sections 16 and 29, of
Article 74 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled
"Pilots."

On motion of Mr. Park,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to render inoperative in Allegany county
the provisions of Article 48 of the Code of Public General
Laws, commonly called the "Insolvent Law."

On motion of Mr. Vanderford,
Leave was granted to the Carroll delegation to introduce
