to bills before this Body in connection with Baltimore City.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Seth submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Phil. D. Laird, of Dorchester county, be
and he is hereby, authorized to index the Journal of this
House, and that he receive as compensation therefor the sum
of $300.

Which was read, and

On motion of Mr. Yanderford, referred to the Committee
on Printing.

Mr. Madia submitted the following order :

Ordered, That the Joint Committee on Printing inquire
into the expediency of ceasing to publish a list of defaulters
to the State previous to the regular elections.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Stewart, of Baltimore City, Chairman of the Select
Committee on Police, submitted the following message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 27th, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We respectfully propose, with the concurrence of your
Honorable Body, to go into Joint Convention for the election
of Police Commissioners of Baltimore City, on Tuesday, Feb-
ruary 3rd, 1874, in the hall of the House of Delegates, at 1
o'clock, P. M.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.

Mr. Keech submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Committee on the Judiciary be request-
ed to inquire into the expediency of codifying the Public Gen-
eral and Public Local Laws of this State, including the laws
passed at the present session of the Legislature of the State,
and the cost of the same.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Johnson submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be request-
