The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Trustees of the
Almshouse for Allegany county, to provide homes for chil-
dren undes their charge, by binding them out under inden-
tures of apprenticeship,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act lor the better protection of birds
in Garrett county,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal section 193, of Article 3,
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore county, sub-
title "Sheriff," passed at the January session of the Legis-
lature, in the year 1872, and to re-enact the same with
amendments,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to repeal section 1 of an Act pass-
ed at the January session ,1872, chapter 131, entitled an Act
for the better protection of oysters, clams, terrapins and fish,
in the Synepuxent Bay and its tributaries in Worcester coun-
ty, and to re-enact the same with amendments,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The bill entitled an Act.to establish a free bridge over the
Patapsco River, between Anne Arundel and Baltimore coun-
ties, on or near the present site of Sweetzer's bridge,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage :

BY THE SENATE,

January 23rd, 1874.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable
Body, that the Senators of Baltimore City act as a Joint
Committee with the Special Committee heretofore appointed
by your Honorable Body, in relation to the " Police Law"
of Baltimore City.

To whom shall be referred all matters appertaining to the
"Police Law."
