Ordered, That Mr. Wier, of Allegany county, be excused
from attendance to-day, on account of urgent business.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Lancaster submitteed the following order:

Ordered, That the Committee on Elections be directed to
enquire and ascertain what persons, if any, now occupying
seats as members of this House, were at the time of their
election holding office, military or civil, under the United
States, and if such persons can lawfully hold and occupy
their seats under the provisions of the 10th section of the 31st
Article of our State Constitution; and that said Committee
further inquire and ascertain, what persons, if any, now
occupying seats as members of this House, were at the time
of their election holding civil office of profit or trust under
this State, and if such persons can lawfully hold and occupy
their seats as members of this House, under the provisions of
the 11th section of the 3rd Article of our State Constitution,
aad that the said Committee report the result of their inves-
tigations on or before the 2nd day of February.

Which was read.

Mr. Gill moved that the further consideration thereof be
postponed, and the order made the order of the day for
Wednesday next.

On motion of Mr. Freaner, the order was laid on the table.
Mr. Seth submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Librarian furnish each of the four Re-
porters of the Public Press, in this House, with such station-
ery as is allowed to each member to be furnished in sta-
tionery.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Gait submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Wa-
ters is absent from his seat to-day on account of sickness in
his family.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Lainar submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Glot-
felty be excused from attendance to-day, on account of urgent
business.
