FRIDAY, January 23rd, 1874.

The House met, Mr. Watkins in the Chair, and was opened
with prayer by the Rev. Mr. Henderson.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members :

ford, Robey, Thompson, Kemp, Pruitt, Koons, Miller,
Lamar, Nicodemus, Annan, Grafton, Lee, Riley, Dawson,
Williams, McCosker, T. H. Hamilton, Cooper, C. R. Ham-
ilton, McWilliams, Foster, Staylor, Stewart, of Baltimore:
City, McAleese, Gill, Loane, Greenfield, McColgan, Harig,
Joyce, Groh, Fenton, Berry, Freaner, Grimes, Stake, Clark,
Watkins, Fletchall, Wier, Wack, Park, Brace, Vanderford,
Galt, Brown, Maclin, Stewart, of Howard, Leonard, Beds-
worth, West—66.

Mr. McColgan presented the petitions of John Piet, Eliza
Hepley and Sally Brannan, for a pension.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Pensions.

Mr. Gill presented the petitions of Eliza H. Jory, Mary
Kans and Margaret Shipley, for a pension.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Pensions.

Mr. McCosker presented the petitions of Francis Lamden,
Margaret Parrish, and Maria Bowen, for a pension.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Pensions.

Mr. Brace submitted the following order:

Ordered, That Mr. Bird, of Calvert county, be excused
from attendance until Wednesday next, on account of urgent
business.

Which was adopted.

Mr, Seth submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal of this
House, that Mr. Gill, of Baltimore City, was prevented from
taking his seat in this House yesterday, by important busi-
ness.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Wack submitted the following order:
