So the order was adopted.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage :

BY THE SENATE,

January 22, 1874.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message informing the Senate of
your disagreement to our action on the Joint Resolution of
your Honorable Body on the subject of the Taney statue, and
of your adherence to the Joint Resolutions of your own Hon-
orable Body. We also adhere to our action, and propose
submitting the action of our respective Bodies to a Committee
of Conference of two on the part of the Senate, and three on
the part of the House.

We have appointed on the part of the Senate, Messrs.
Earle and Steiner.

A. GASSAWAY,

Secretary.
Which was read.

Mr. Merryman submitted the following message :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 22, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We have received your message notifying this House of
your adherence to the Joint Resolutions of the Senate in
reference to the statue of Chief Justice Taney, and the pro-
posed commemoration of ita delivery to the State, and also
your proposition for a Committee on Conference upon the ex-
isting disagreement between the two Houses ugon the subject.

We agree to the Conference, and have appointed Messrs.
Merryman, Freaner and Groomeas a Committee on behalf of
this House.

MILTON Y. KIDD,

Chief Clerk.
Which, was read, assented to, and sent to the Senate.

The Speaker announced that all the business upon the
Speaker's desk was disposed of.

On motion of Mr. Turner, of Baltimore county, at 2 o'clock,
P, M., the House adjourned.
