100 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 22,

introduce a bill entitled an Act giving the sanction of the
General Assembly of Maryland to the bequest of Hannah
Horn, late of the City of Baltimore, deceased, to the Mary-
land Conference of the Methodist Protestant Church.

On motion of Mr. Robey,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to in-
troduce a bill to extend the time for the completion of the
District of Columbia, Upper Marlboro" and Hill's Landing
Turnpike.

On motion of Mr. Cooper,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to appropriate a sum of money for transcrib-
ing, indexing, and re-binding records, preserving papers.
and for preparing a deposit of the laws and rules of the Land
Office.

On motion of Mr. Hawkins,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
repeal section 7 of Article 60, of the Code of Public General
Laws, title "Marriages," and to re-enact the same with
amendments.

On motion of Mr. Hart,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and Means
to introduce a bill for the relief of the Maryland Inebriate
Asylum.

On motion of Mr. Hart,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Claims to intro-
duce a bill to authorize the Comptroller to settle the claim of
Lawrence D. Dietz, of Baltimore City.

Mr. Merryman, Chairman of the Committee on Agricul-
ture, reported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act for the better protection of birds in
in Garrett county.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Seth. Chairman of a Select Committee, reported favora-
bly,

A bill entitled an Act to compensate Josiah Stock, of Tal-
bot county, for services rendered in making the arrest of
Levin Palmer, an escaped prisoner and desperado.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Buchanan, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
