134 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 30,

FRIDAY, January 30th, 1874.

The Senate met.

Prayer by Rev. Father Oberley.

Present, the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Aydelotte, Blake, Brewer, Billingsley,
Brattan, Crawford, Claggett, Davis, Denson, Earle, Fields,
Getty, Knight, Longwell, McCulloh, Phelps, Stevens, Stei-
ner, Suit, Tuck, Walsh—22.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

On motion by Mr. Fields, it was

Ordered, That leave of absence be granted Senator Phelps
until Wednesday, the 4th February.

Mr. Blake presented the petition of Elizabeth G. Hiss,
widow of Joseph Hiss, a soldier of the war of 1812, praying
to be restored to the pension list.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Walsh submitted the following order:

Ordered, That when the Senate adjourns to-day, it stands
adjourned until Monday, 12 o'clock, M.

Mr. Knight moved a call of the Senate,
When the following Senators responded:

Messrs. President, Aydelotte, Blake, Billingsley, Crawford,
Claggett, Davis, Denson, Earle, Fields, Getty, Knight, Long-
well, McCulloh, Stevens, Steiner, Spencer, Tuck, Walsh—19.

On motion by Mr. Blake,
Further proceedings under the call were suspended.

The question being upon the order submitted by Mr.
Walsh,

It was adopted by yeas and nays as follows :
