Also,

Reported back various petitions in reference to a prohibitory
liquor law, and recommended the reference thereof to the
Select Committee on Temperance.

The petitions were accordingly so referred.

Mr. Groome, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary,
to whom was referred the petition of the County Commis-
sioners of Garrett county, praying for repeal of Registration
Law in Garrett county, reported unfavorably thereon.

And the Report was adopted.

Also,

Reported back the petition of D. P. Jacobs and one hun-
dred other citizens .of Frederick county, for an alteration or
amendment of the present Fence Law, and recommended
that said petition be referred to the Frederick delegation.

The petition was accordingly so referred.

Mr. Groome, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary,
reported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to give the sanction of the General
Assembly of Maryland to the devise and bequest of Henry
Butler, to the Trustees of the African. Methodist Episcopal
Ebenezer Church, of the City ,of Baltimore.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Gill, from the Committee on the Judiciary, reported
favorably,

A bill entitled an Act giving the sanction of the General
Assembly of Maryland to a legacy of one hundred dollars, be-
queathed by the last will and testament of Susan Benson,
deceased, late of Worcester county, to the Trustees of the
Methodist Episcopal Church, at Stockton, Worcester county.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Foster, Chairman of the Committee on Claims, re-
ported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to
pay Joseph Spurrier, late Collector of State Taxes, in Car-
roll county, the amount overpaid by him into the Treasury.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Groome, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary,
reported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to provide for the defense of Officers
of Registration, Judges of Election, and others, who are, or
may be indicted in the United States Court, for acts done in
