Mr. Grafton submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Committee on the Judiciary be instruct-
ed to inquire into the expediency of reporting a bill for the
better regulation of the sale of intoxicating liquors in this
State.

Which was read.

Mr. Seth submitted the following amendment as a substi-
tute :

Ordered, That a Select Committee on the Sale of Intoxi-
cating Liquors be appointed, to consist of seven members, to
whom shall be furnished all petitions on the subject of tem-
perance, &c.

Which was adopted.

The question then recurring upon the order as amended,
it was adopted, and Messrs, Seth, Dawson, Greenfield, Stake,
Hodson, Bird and Annan constituted said Committee.

Mr. Brace submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Committee on Public Records inquire
into and report to this House whether the Act of 1865, chap-
ter 130, has been properly carried into effect in this State,
and whether the Secretary of the Senate has performed his
duties under said Act, and whether or not he has drawn the
salary allowed him by section 11 of said Act.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Groome submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr,
Mackey, of the Cecil delegation, is detained from his seat by
sickness.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Matthews submitted the following order:

Ordered, That when this House adjourn, it stand adjorned
until eleven o'clock to-morrow, Wednesday.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Nutwell,

Leave was granted to the Anne Arundel delegation
to introduce a bill to authorize Thomas H. Hodges, of Anne
Arundel county, to erect a gate across a public road.

On motion of Mr. Robinson,

Leave was granted to the Anne Arundel delegation
to report a bill to repeal sections 79 and 80 of the Code of
