Mr. Seth submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the Postmaster of the House be, and he is
hereby, required to furnish to each member of the House the
amount of fifty dollars in postage stamps, and the same
amount be furnished the Chief and Reading Clerks; also, that
the amount heretofore usual be furnished to the other officers
of the House.

Which was read.

Mr. Fowler submitted the following amendment:

Ordered, That the Postmaster of this House furnish each
member with twenty-five dollars worth of postage stamps,
and to each employee or officer fifteen dollars worth.

Which was read.

Mr. Valliant submitted the following amendment:

Ordered, That each member of this House shall receive
twenty-five dollars worth of postage stamps, and that each
employee shall receive stamps to amount of five dollars.

Which was read.

The question recurring upon concurring in the amendmeat
submitted by Mr. Valliant,

On motion of Mr. Stake,
A division of the question was ordered.

The question then recurring upon the first proposition of
the amendment, that each member of the House shall receive
twenty-five dollars worth of stamps,

On motion of Mr. McCosker,
