Mr. Loane presented a memorial from the Trustees of the
Washington University, for aid from the State to assist in
paying mortgage.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Nicodemus presented the petition of Dennis Ramsburg
and forty-eight others, asking for the prohibition of the sale
of intoxicating liquors within two miles of Harrisonville,

Which was read and referred to the Frederick county dele-
gation.

Mr. Lee presented the petition of H. Birckhead, late Collec-
for of Taxes in Harford county, asking to be refunded taxes

erroneously paid by him into the Treasury.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Stake presented the petition of Elizabeth Harrigan,
.asking for a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:

We have received your message proposing that the Com-
mittees on Education of the two Houses be authorized to act
as a Joint Standing Committee on Education, and concur
therein.
