Mr. Watkins submitted the following order as an amend-
ment:

Ordered, That the Rev. Mr. Southgate, of the Protestant
Episcopal, and the Rev. Mr. Henderson, of the Presbyterian
Churches, be requested to act as Chaplains to this House.

Pending the consideration whereof,

On motion of Mr. Koons, the whole subject was refer-
red to the Committee on Organization.

Mr. Groome submitted the following order:

Ordered, That a Committee of five be appointed by the
Speaker, to whom shall be referred the Message of the Gov-
ernor, together with the accompanying documents, for the
purpose of distributing the several matters therein contained
to appropriate Committees.

Which was adopted, and Messrs. Groome, Watkins, Bu-
chanan, Fenton and Koons constituted said Committee.

Mr. Wack submitted the following order:

Ordered, That Wm. Brace, Jr., be excused from attendance
to-day on account of urgent business.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Freaner, the House proceeded to the
consideration of the order passed on Friday last, appointing
a Committee consisting of three members from Baltimore
city, and fifteen from the counties, to recommend permanent
subordinate officers for the House of Delegates.

Pending which, Mr. Freaner moved that the vote by which,
the said order was adopted be reconsidered.

Decided in the negative.

Mr. Seth submitted the following:

Leave to introduce a bill to repeal the Act passed at Janu-
ary session, chapter 364, entitled an Act to repeal the Act
passed at January session, 1868, chapter 406, entitled an
Act to repeal the Act passed the twenty-third of March,
1867, chapter 184, entitled an Act to repeal Article 71,
of the Code of Public General Laws of the State of Mary-
land, entitled "Oysters," and to repeal the Act passed at the
January session, 1872, chapter 167, repealing and re-enact-
ing sections seven and eight of said Article 71, of the
said Code, and to re-enact the same with amendments.

Which was read.
