Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Buchanan presented the petition of Richard Turner,
Josephine Clay, Louisa Baker, and seven hundred other
operatives at Mount Washington, Woodberry, Clipper,
Thistle, Druid and Powhattan Cotton Factories, praying re-
lief from excessive labor.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Manu-
factures.

Mr. Sudler presented the petition of. Thomas W. Stone,
praying the investigation of the late election in Somerset
county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Elec-
tions.

Mr. Lamar presented the petition of Daniel Wolf, and oth-
ers, praying the passage of an Act laying out and establishing
a new election, district from portions of Hanover District,
No. 10, Mechanicstown District, No. 15, in Frederick county.

Which was read and referred to the Frederick county
delegation.

Mr. Vanderford presented the petition of R. B. Varden,
asking for a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Gill presented the petition of Thomas Kensett and
others, of Central Presbyterian Church of Baltimore.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.

Mr. Greenfield presented the petition of Thomas Whit-
ridge & Co., and thirty other firms, asking a modification
of the Pilot Laws.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. McWilliams,
Cooper, C. H. Hamilton, Hart, Kemp, Colton and Stake.

Mr. Staylor submitted the following order:

Ordered, That the resident ministers of the gospel, of all
denominations, in the city of Annapolis, be invited to open
this House with prayer.
