Jesse K. Hines, as Speaker, and the appointment of Milton Y.
Kidd, of Cecil county, as Chief Clerk.

We are now ready to proceed to the business of the Session,
and concur with your Honorable Body in the appointment of
a Joint Committee to wait upon his Excellency, the Governor,
and inform him that the General Assembly is prepared to re-
ceive any communication he may pleased to make.

We have appointed on the part of the House, Messrs. Wat-
kins, Buchanan and Koons.

Messrs. Walsh, Longwell and Earle, from the Joint Com-
mittee appointed to wait upon his Excellency, the Governor,
and inform him that the two Houses of the General Assembly
were or ganized and ready to receive any communication he might
be pleased to make, reported that the Committee had per-
formed that duty, and that they had been requested by his
Excellency to inform the Senate, that he would communicate
a message to the two Houses in a few minutes.

The Hon, R. C. Holliday, Secretary of State, appeared and
delivered a message from his Excellency, the Governor.

Pending the reading of said message,

Mr. Earle moved to suspend the further reading thereof
until Tuesday, the 13th instant.

Mr. Earle withdrew said motion.

Mr. Davis renewed the motion to suspend the reading of
said message.

Mr. Fields demanding the yeas and nays, the motion was
lost, as follows:
