The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 8th, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

By the concurrency of your Honorable Body, we propose
that when this General Assembly adjourns, it stand adjourn-
ed until Tuesday, at 12 o'clock, M.

Chief Clerk.
Which was read.

Mr. Walsh submitted the following message:

BY THE SENATE,

January 8th, 1874.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message proposing "that when this
General Assembly adjourns it stand adjourned until Tuesday,
the 13th inst., at 12 o'clock, M.," and concur therein.

By order,

AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY,

Secretary.

Which was read, assented to and sent to the House of
Delegates.

On motion by Mr. Blake, it was

Ordered, That the Public Printers print for the use of the
Senate, the same number of copies of the Governor's Mes-
sage, and of the other Public Documents, as was authorized
by the Senate of 1872.

Mr. Blake submitted the following order :

Ordered, That James T. Blackstone, late Sergeant-at-Arms,
William L. Arringdale, late Folder, and David Fitzgerald,
late Messenger, be each paid for eight days attendance on the
Senate, at the rates prescribed by the preceding Session of the
Legislature, together with mileage.

Which was read and adopted.

On motion by Mr. Earle,

Leave of absence was granted to Mr. Brattan until Wed-
nesday next.

The President laid before the Senate the following commu-
nication from the Comptroller of the Treasury, with accom-
panying Documents;
