106 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 28,

WEDNESDAY, January 28th, 1874.
The Senate met at 11 o'clock A. M.
Prayer by Rev. Father Kreine.
Present the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Aydelotte, Blake, Brewer, Billingsley,
Brattan, Claggett, Davis, Denson, Earle, Fields, Getty,
Knight, Longwell, Mudd, McCulloch, Phelps, Stevens,
Steiner, Spencer. Tuck, Walsh—22.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

On motion by Mr. Denson,
The Senate proceeded to Executive Session.
Having resumed Legislative business,

Mr. Blake presented the petition of Mary Berger. widow
of John Berger, a soldier of the war of 1812, praying a pen-
sion.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions,

Also,

Petition of Mary A. Roche, widow of James Roche, a sol-
dier of the war of 1812, praying a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

On motion by Mr. Billingsley, it was

Ordered, That the members of the two Houses require the
printers of the School Report, to deliver the full numbers of
copies ordered by each House to the Secretary of the Senate
and the Chief Clerk of the House, within thirty days from
the delivery of the manuscript, to be delivered by the said
officers to the members of their respective bodies, hi the pro-
portion of fifty copies to each, and further that five hundred
copies be placed by said officers at the disposal of the State
Board of Education.

On motion by Mr. Blake, it was
