Said bill was then returned to the House of Delegates.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to establish and regulate
the Maryland Insane Asylum,

Being on second reading,

Mr. Earle submitted the following amendments :

Strike out all after "A bill," and insert,

"Entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to pay
the indebtedness of the Maryland Insane Asylum, and to
provide for the proper leveling and drainage of the grounds
immediately contiguous to the buildings.

Section. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the President and Visitors of the Maryland Hos-
pital, be and they are hereby required to execute such deeds
or assignments of all their property and estate to the State
of Maryland, as may be approved of by the Attorney Gen-
eral of this State, thereby renouncing all right to sell, lease
or mortgage, or otherwise dispose of any of the aforesaid
property, excepting as directed by the General Assembly of
the State, to the satisfaction of the said Attorney General.

Section 2. And be it enacted, That the sum of fifty-three
thousand dollars, be and the same is hereby appropriated to
be paid to the said President and Visitors of the Maryland
Hospital, to pay its debts due by them as per their last report.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the further sum of ten
