An act Supplementary to the acts, relating to the Universi-
ty of Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That no vacancy which may happen in the
board of trustees of the University of Maryland; shall be
filled up, until the whole number (exclusive of the Gov-

ernor) shall be reduced to- twelve.
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the Board of Trustees, to report to the Governor and
Council the names of such Trustees as shall be absent
from four successive sessions of the board, unless prevent-

ed by sickness, or absence from the state, on public duty,
and upon such report being made, the places of such Trus-
tees shall be deemed vacated.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That before the place of
any Trustee shall be vacated, he shall Lave been notified
to attend each of the four successive sessions, by personal
notice or through the Post office; at Jeast ten days before
the commencement of each session; and provided also, that
the provisions of the second section of this act, shall not
be construed to apply to the Governor.

See. 4. And be it enacted, That a majority of the whole
number of Trustees shall be a quorum, and that the as-
sent of a majority of the whole actual number shall be ne-
cessary for the appointment or removal of a provost, pro-

fessor, lecturer, tutor, or demonstrator, and for the estab-
lishment, alteration or abolishment of a professorship or
lectureship in said University.
