CHAP. 57.

ter one hundred and eighty-three, entitled, an act for found-
ing a college in the city of Frederick by the name of Fre-
derick Colleg-e, whether the old corporation does not lose
its franchises by the change of its corporate name.

Section 1. Be it 'therefore enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the old corporation does not lose
its powers, rights, and privileges, by the change of its cor-
porate name, and that all bills heietofore filed in courts,
having chancery jurisdiction, or suits brought in county
courts in the name of the Visitors of Frederick county
school, shall not abate by reason of the change of its name,
but that the same shall be continued and brought to a close
in the name in which the bill or suit was commenced, Us
corporate name being changed by the act of eighteen hun-
dred and twenty-nine, chapter one hundred and eighty-
three, notwithstanding.

Proceeds how pay-
able

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That all money or property,
and all debts, damages and costs, which may be recovered
in any suits now depending in the name of the Visitors of
Frederick county school, in any court of law or equity in
this state, shall be applied and appropriated for the use of
Frederick college, in the same manner, as if the same had
been recovered in the name of Frederick college.

 

CHAPTER 57.

Passed Feb.18,1834

An act to confirm the proceedings of certain Commissioners
in Somerset county.

Preamble

WHEREAS, the commissioners appointed by the Levy
court of Somerset county, in conformity with the provi-
sions of the act of Assembly of eighteen hundred and thir-
ty-one, chapter thirty-three, section three, confirmed by act
eighteen hundred and thirty-two, chapter five, were requir-
ed to meet at the Witch bridge, in said county, on the first
Monday of May next, after the confirmation of said act, or
within ten days thereafter, and complete the duties assign-
ed them; and whereas, the said commissioners did not
meet at the time specified, for remedy whereof:

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the duties performed by George M. Willing, John
Leatherbury and Henry Hyland, commissioners appointed
by virtue of the po.wer conferred by the above mentioned
