fected thereby, and in what way the same is to be affect-
ed, and notify all persons interested, to make their objec-
tions, if any they have, to the passage of said ordinance,
on or before some day, to be fixed by the said Mayor and
City Council.

CHAPTER 35.

 

An act to establish the Richmond Market.

Passed Feb. 7, 1834

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore be and they are
hereby authorised to build and establish a public market
on the ground which has been condemned and made pub-
lic for that purpose, at the intersection of Howard, Rich-
mond, Garden and Biddle streets, and to levy and collect
such sum or sums of money as may be required therefor
by direct tax, also to establish and enforce within the limits
of the intersection aforesaid, from time to time, such rules

and regulations as they shall deem proper for the govern-
ment of said market, and to rent or hire the stalls and
stands thereof, for any term not exceeding three years at
any one time, and to appoint and pay such officers as they
shall consider necessary to take charge of the same and to
ordain and recover, as small debts before any justice of the
peace, such fines, forfeitures and penalties as they shall think
fit to impose, but not exceeding five dollars for each offence,
and generally to have, hold, exercise and use the same ju-
risdiction, rights, authority, advantages and property over,
in and unto the said lot of ground and market as the Mayor
and City Council of Baltimore now have or might have or
exercise, use and enjoy over, in and unto any other public
market in said city.
