RESOLUTIONS.

1833.

state shall accept the overtures of Maryland, made by her
resolutions, at December session eighteen hundred and
thirty one.
Resolved, That the Governor of this state, be authoris-
ed and requested to transmit to the Governor of Virginia,
a copy of the foregoing report and resolutions as soon as
practicable.

 

No. 81.

 

Resolution in relation to the Wharf and the Tobacco In-
spection Warehouses in the city of Baltimore.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
from and after the adoption of these resolutions, it shall be
the duty of the state's Wharfinger, in the city of Baltimore,
to lay off, designate and set apart so much of the state's
wharves on Dugan's and O'Donnell's docks, and at the
head of the bason, as the inspectors of tobacco at the
state's tobacco warehouses, may deem necessary to facili-
tate the receiving and delivering of tobacco, provided the
same shall not exceed seventy-five feet at any one ware-
house; and when portions thereof shall be so designated,
they shall be under the control of said inspectors, and the
state's wharfinger aforesaid is hereby required to keep the
same free from intrusion by other vessels than those engag-
ed in the tobacco trade.
Resolved, That nothing contained in the foregoing reso-
lution shall be so construed as to interfere with the steam-
boat Maryland and Patuxent, nor any other vessels that
may resort to those wharves, except so far as to keep those
portions designated for the use and accommodation of
each, free from being interfered with or molested by others.
Resolved, That from and after the passage of this reso-
lution, it shall not be necessary for the inspectors of tobac-
co in the city of Baltimore to fix any brand or mark on
hogsheads containing Maryland tobacco, by which the
same may bo distinguished from other tobacco shipped
from said city, but that the provision of the law in relation
to the inspection, of tobacco, requiring the inspectors to
brand Maryland tobacco, be and the same is hereby re-
pealed.
Resolved, That it shall hereafter be the duty of the seve-
ral inspectors of tobacco in the city of Baltimore, to employ
