RESOLUTIONS.

 

No. 79.

Passed Mar. 14, 1834

Resolution in favor of Andrew Slir.er and John Quynn,

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the treasurer of the Western shore, pay to Andrew Slicer,
Messenger to the senate, and John Quynn, Doorkeeper, of
he House of Delegates, sixty dollars each, for taking care
of their respective rooms and furniture, timing the recess
of the legislature.

Passed Mar. 14,

Resolutions relative to the controversy between this state,
and the state of Virginia, in regard to the Southern and
Western boundaries.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That it
is necessary for the peace and security of our people, and
the dignity of the state, that our southern and western
Boundaries should be finally settled and defined.
Resolved, That this state has seen with deep regret, the
refusal on the part of Virginia, to leave the settlement of
these boundaries, to friendly arbitration as proposed by
this state.
Resolved, That the Attorney General of this state, be
and he is hereby requested to cause suit to be instituted in
the name of the State of Maryland, against the Common-
wealth of Virginia, in such manner and form, as may be
technically required, in the Supreme Court of the United
States, for the purpose of procuring a final legal adjust-
ment and settlement of the Southern and Western Bounda-
ries of this state.
Resolved, That the Governor and Council of this state,
be, and they are hereby authorised and requested to select
and employ two additional counsel, to assist the Attorney
Genera), one of whom shall fee requestedto collect and pre-
pare the evidence written or oral, to illustrate and esta-
blish the claims and pretensions of this state, in regard to
our southern and western boundaries.
Resolved, That all adversary proceedings on the part of
this state, against the state of Virginia, shall cease at any
time before suit brought or final judgment, when that
