WHEREAS, a judgment was obtained by the State of
Maryland against Dennis Boyd, late inspector of tobacco
in Baltimore, and his securities, for the amount of two
thousand and fourteen dollars and nineteen cents, bearing
interest thus: on fourteen hundred and twenty dollars and
three cents, from first of February, eighteen hundred and
thirty, and on five hundred and ninety four dollars and six-
teen cents, from first of May, eighteen hundred and thirty,
being a balance of his receipts for tobacco inspection: AND
WHEREAS, it is sound policy to extend all the indulgence
to every citizen that can be done consistently with the in-
terests of the state — Therefore,
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That all proceedings on the aforesaid judgment against
Dennis Boyd and his securities be suspended until the first
Monday of January, eighteen hundred and thirty seven:
Provided, that the defendants pay in the manner following:
that is to say, one third part of the principal and all the
interest and costs due thereon, on or before the first Mon-
day of January next, the like, sum of principal and all the
interest due on the remainder of the principal on the first
Monday of January, eighteen hundred and thirty-six, and
the remaining part of the principal and whatever interest
is due, on the first Monday of January, eighteen hundred
thirty-seven, and if the said Dennis Boyd and his securities
shall fail or neglect to pay the proportion or instalments as
directed to be paid by them, the execution shall and may
forthwith be issued on the judgment against the party ne-
glecting to pay as aforesaid, in the same manner as if this
resolution had not passed: Provided further, that the said
