Sec. 2, And be it enacted, that the judges of the said
levy court, shall levy such sum on the assessable property
in Frederick county, as (hey in their sound discretion may
think proper to allow for the erection of said bridge.

amount

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That when such levy is made
by the judges of the levy court of Frederick county, it shall
be the duty of said court, to give public notice in at least
two newspapers printed in Frederick town, for proposals
for building said bridge, and they are authorised to enter
into and make contracts with any person or persons, for the
building of said bridge, and the levy court of said county,

are hereby authorised and required to take bond, with good
and sufficient security from any person or persons contract-
ing to build said bridge, for the faithful performance of the

contracts entered into for building said bridge; and when
said bridge shall be built, it shall be a free bridge to pas-
sengers to pass and repass.

CHAPTER 23.

An act for building a bridge over North East creek, at or
near North East, in Cecil county, on the main road

leading from North East to Charlestown.

Passed Feb. 6, 1834,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Charles F. Foard, Thomas Maffitt, Sen.
and Hugh Brown be, and they are hereby appointed com-
missioners to fix upon a site at or near North East, on the
main road leading from North East to Charlestown, in
Cecil county, for building1 a bridge over said creek; and
the said commissioners are hereby authorised, by and with
the consent and under the direction of the commissioners
of Cecil county, to erect, or cause to be erected, a good
and substantial bridge, to be done in a workmanlike man-
ner, and for a sum not exceeding eight hundred dollars.

Sec. 2. And be, it enacted, That the commissioners, at
their discretion, of Cecil county are hereby authorised to
levy upon the assessable property of their county, at their
next county levy, the sum of three hundred dollars, and in
eighteen hundred and thirty five a further sum of three
hundred dollars, and in eighteen hundred thirty six a fur-
ther additional sum of two hundred dollars, and have them
