ers; Provided, that the said James Todd and Eber F. Cook,
shall in all respects, (except that of proving residence,)
comply with the requisitions of said acts of Assembly, and
that they satisfy the said commissioners that they did not
come into this state with a view of obtaining the benefit of
the said insolvent laws aforesaid; Provided also, that the
said James Todd and Eber F. Cook, shall be compelled to
file their petitions for the benefit of said insolvent laws,
previous to their discharge from custody.

CHAPTER 166.

 

An act authorising the Levy Court of Worcester county, to
appoint Commissioners Jor certain purposes therein men-
tioned.

Passed Mar. 8, 1834

WHEREAS, sundry citizens of Newlown, in Worcester
county, have set forth by their petition in writing to the
General Assembly of Maryland, that the land condemned
for the repairs of'the causeway, leading from Stevens, alias
Pollit's Ferry, to Newtown, in Worcester county, has by
frequent use become low, thereby affording a pond for stag-
nant water, which is injurious to the health of the citizens
as aforesaid, and it appears by She petition of the citizens
as aforesaid, that the owner of the adjoining land is will-
ing to make an exchange of land for said land condemned
as aforesaid, for the purpose of promoting the health and
happiness of the citizens of Newton as aforesaid, apd the
prayer of the petitioners appealing reasonable — There-
fore,

Preamble

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Levy court of Worcester county, be
and is hereby authorised to appoint three discreet persons,
who shall act as commissioners to negotiate an exchange,
of the ground condemned for the repairs of the causeway,
leading from Stevens, alias Pollit's Ferry, to Newtown, in
Worcester county.

Sec. 2 And be it enacted, That if the owner or owners
of the adjoining land, shall consent to an exchange of land
for the repairs of the causeway, leading from Stevens, alias
Point's Ferry, to Newtown, in Worcester county afore-
said, the commissioners to be appointed in virtue of the
