1833.

of Baltimore county, and the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore, shall on or before the first day of July next,
pay into the Treasury of this state the sums respectively
due by them, under the provisions of the eighth section of
the act above referred to, that is to say, two thousand five
hundred and ninety-five dollars and seventy-two cents, by
the said commissioners, and three thousand eight hundred
and ninety-three dollars and sixty cents by the Mayor and

City Council, the same shall be considered as a full release
of all claims for arrearages against the said city and coun-
ty, due under the provisions of the aforesaid act

To be allowed as in
full

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners
and the said Mayor and city Council are hereby authorised
to levy and collect on the taxable property of the said city
and county respectively, the sums necessary to carry into
effect the provisions of the second section of this act; pro-
vided, that nothing contained in this act shall exempt the

est due by them.

CHAPTER 163.

 

An act Supplementary to an act entitled, an act to incorpo-
rate the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road Company.

Passed Mar. 1, 1834

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That if any person or persons shall ride an horseback, or
shall ride, drive or lead any horse or horses, male or mules,
ox or oxen, or shall drive or ride in any carriage, wagon
or other vehicle, except in the cars or service, of the Balti-
more and Ohio Rail Road company, or shall drive any cat-
tle, sheep, hogs or stock of any description upon or along
the Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road, or any part or branch
thereof, other than is laid down in a street or streets in the
cities of Baltimore and Frederick, or along the passes of
the said Rail road, between Miller's Narrows and Harper's
Ferry, or the Potomac river, except at, or upon the cross-
ing places upon said Rail Road, such person or persons

on, prohibited

shall be liable, each and every of them, to a fine of five dol-
lars for each and every offence, to be recovered before any
justice of the peace, as small debts are by law recovered,
one half of said penalty to belong to the informer, and the
other half to the state.
