CHAPTER 107.

Passed Feb, 26, 1834

An act to authorise Albert Battle, & free man of color, of the
state of Virginia to remove and reside in the state of Ma-
ryland.

SECTION 1. Beitenacted by the General Assembly of Ma-
ryland, That Albeit Battle, a free man of color, of the
state of Virginia, be, and he is hereby authorised to re-
move to and reside in the state of Maryland, upon his pay-
ing to the clerk of Charles county court, the sum of fifty
dollars, and filing with said clerk a bond to the state of
Maryland for the sum of two hundred and fifty dollars,

Condition

with two good securities, citizens of said county, condi-
tioned for his good behaviour for the period of twelve
months from the day of his removal to Maryland.

Disposition directed

Sec. 2. And 6e it enacted, That it shall be the duty of
the clerk of said county to receive and pay over to the Trea-
urer of the Western Shore for the benefit of the state the
said sum of fifty dollars, if tendered, and to grant to said Al-
bert Battle, a receipt or certificate of said payment," and the
said clerk shall receive-and place on file the bond herein-
before required of said Battle, which shall upon forfeiture
thereof, be- put in suit by the Levy court of said county,
and the penalty recovered shall inure one-half to the ben-
efit 6f the state, and the other half to the benefit of the
county.

 

CHAPTER 108.

Passed Feb.27 1834.

An act entitled, a Supplement to an act entitled, an act to
incorporate a Company to make a Turnpike Road from
such point as the Somerset and Cumberland Turnpike
Company of Pennsylvania, shall fix upon at the Penn-
sylvania, line, to the public square, in the Town oj Cum-
berland, or to intersect the United States Road, common-
ly called the National road, at such point as may be most
convenient and practicable.

Right to vote

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
each subscriber for stock as is provided for in the fourth
section of the act to which this is a supplement, shall be
entitled to one vote for each share of stock so subscribed
