CHAPTER 117.

AN ACT to add additional sections to Article 2 of the Code of
|
 
|
Public Local Laws, title "Anne Arundel County," under a
|
 
|
new sub-title "Eastport," to follow Section 130, and to be
|
 
|
called Section 130A, 130B and 130C, providing for the ap-
|
 
|
pointment of police officers for Eastport in Anne Arundel
|
 
|
County.

|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Genera! Assembly of Mary-
|
Anne Arun-

land, That three additional sections be and the same are hereby
|

130A. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
|

shall appoint one policeman for the protection of persons and
|

tioned at Eastport in the Second Election District of said
|

county. The appointment shall be made immediately after the
|
 
|
passage of this Act, and the person so appointed shall serve
|
 
|
until the first day of January, 1906, and until his
|
 
|
successor is duly appointed, and thereafter such ap-
|
 
|
poiniment shall be made every two years thereafter on the
|
 
|
first day of January, or as soon thereafter as possible. The said
|
 
|
Commissioners shall have power to suspend such policeman
|
 
|
without pay, or remove him at pleasure, and to appoint other
|
 
|
officers in the place of any removed or suspended. The officer
|
 
|
so appointed shall be subject to all and the same provisions,
|
 
|
regulations and rules as laid down and contained in Chapter
|
 
|
643 of the Acts of Assembly of 1902.

130B. It shall be the duty of said policeman, at all times, to

preserve the public peace, prevent crimes being committed, pro-

tect the rights of persons and property, to arrest all offenders

against the laws of the State and to take such offenders before
|
 
|
a justice of the peace in the City of Annapolis, of said county,
|
 
|
and to this end he shall have all the powers and authority
|
 
|
of county constables; and the County Commissioners shall not
|
 
|
appoint any constable to act in such precinct of the Second Elec-
|
 
|
tion District wherein said Eastport is located, and such officer
|
 
|
so appointed shall perform all the duties that may be required
|
 
|
of him as a county constable, and shall receive no other fee or
|
 
|
pay other than his monthly salary for doing criminal work.
|
 
|
130C. The policeman so appointed shall be paid fifty dollars
|
Salary.
|
per month, and the County Commissioners in making the annual
|
 
|
levy shall provide for the pay of the said officer monthly. It
|
 
|
shall be the duty of said Commissioners to arm and equip said
|
 
|
officer add to make such rules and regulations for his proper
|
 
|
conduct and discipline, and immediately after the passage of
|
 
|
