grade them and certify to the Commissioners a list of all such

applicants as possess the moral and physical qualifications and
|
 
|
have attained an average of sixty per cent, in the examination,
|
 
|
in each case stating the per cent, attained by each applicant.
|
 
|
All appointments of policemen shall be made from the list of
|
 
|
eligible candidates certified to by the Town Clerk. If there is
|
 
|
not a sufficient number of applicants at the first examination
|
 
|
to fill all vacancies, a second examination shall be held, and
|
 
|
other examinations shall be held until all vacancies on the police
|
 
|
force are filled. If any applicant feels himself aggrieved at the
|
 
|
average reported by the Town Clerk, he may within three clays

Commissioners, make complaint to the Commissioners, who

shall then, after such examination and hearing as they deem
|
 
|
sufficient, render such decision as they think proper in the case.

59. (27). To regulate the use of the streets, lanes and alleys

wires and poles in, over and upon the same, provided that noth-

ing in this section shall be so construed as to give the Commis-
|
 
|
sioners of Cambridge the power and authority to impose any

license fees upon such wires and poles, or the use of said streets
|
 
|
and alleys.

60. Each of the five Commissioners of Cambridge shall re-

ceive one dollar and fifty cents for each meeting of the said

missioners.

Commissioners which he attends, provided the said Commis-

sioners shall meet at least once in each month, but in no case
|
 
|
shall the yearly sum paid to any one Commissioner exceed fifty

dollars. The Mayor, in addition to the sum which he receives
|
 
|
as Commissioner, shall be paid a further sum of fifty dollars
|
 
|
per year as Mayor. Neither the Mayor nor any Commissioner
|
 
|
shall receive from the corporate funds any other or further sum
|
 
|
of money or compensation than is provided by this section, ex-
|
 
|
cept such expenses as he may incur in executing some duty as
|
 
|
Commissioner.

62. The Commissioners of Cambridge may provide bv ordi-

nance for the codification of all the ordinances which have been

passed or may hereafter be passed by them, and for the printing

of such codification thereof, and the printed copy thereof, issued
|
 
|
by the authority and under the sanction of the said Commission-

ers, shall be legal evidence of the passage of said ordinances

and the contents thereof in any court of law or equity in this
|
 
|
State.

69. Between the first day of August and the first day of Oc-

tober in each year, the Commissioners shall make a general levy

to meet the corporate expenses of the town, but in no year shall
|
 
|
the tax so levied be greater than forty-five cents on the hun-
|
 
|
dred dollars. The Commissioners shall cause an alphabetical
|
 
|
list of all persons chargeable with the taxes levied to be made out,
|
 
|
together ivith the sums payable by each person, said list shall
|
 
|
be entered in the general record book. At the end of the

list, as first made out, and also at the end of the copy in the
